If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know I’ve been working with James Avery as a brand ambassador. I was very excited when they reached out to me for this opportunity because James Avery artisan jewelry has been a part of my life since, well…for as long as I can remember.
I wanted to get a little more personal in today’s post and share my history with this amazing brand. There are many heartwarming James Avery stories out there. The company even shares them on their website. If you have ever owned a piece of James Avery jewelry or are still a fan, then my own story is probably very similar to yours.
My first “real” piece of jewelry came from James Avery. I was a young girl and I think my family realized I was probably trust-worthy enough to be responsible for something other than costume jewelry. I was a pretty responsible kid but this was like an investment. I received a sterling silver charm bracelet with the thought of adding charms to it over the years. While I did end up collecting charms for birthdays, Christmas, special occasions, and other honors, I never actually wore them on the bracelet. Instead, I prefered a pendant clasp that all of them would hang on. I’ve always done my own thing and no one was really wearing them like that at the time so I thought, cool!
I no longer have that bracelet but I do still have the charms. Each one conjures up a memory as if it were yesterday. It’s funny how a memory will attach itself to something like that.
I ended up collecting other James Avery jewelry pieces throughout the years – rings, necklaces, pendants, and earrings. A couple of years ago my family welcomed my uncle’s bride with the Deep in the Heart of Texas charm. She’s from Chile and it was such a nice way to say welcome to the family.
The new James Avery Discovery store in San Antonio just opened and I was fortunate enough to attend the grand opening celebration. There are so many options and ways to shop! Touchscreens are available throughout the store making it easy to build your own piece and you can even create your own custom charm. You can also buy online and pick up in store. What I loved most was seeing some exciting new items like the leather goods collection, which included some gorgeous handbags.
Speaking of getting personal…
This zip pouch had to come home with me! The Italian leather is so soft and I loved all the options to personalize it. Every bag comes with the leather tag (tassels are available at an additional cost) and James Avery will emboss up to 4 characters (letters and/or symbols) for free! You get to select from a ton of color choices. I chose rose gold for my initials and black for the paw print symbol. You know I can’t pass up a chance to let people know I’m a dog mom. The embossing is done in-store while you’re paying, so it’s quick and easy!
This pouch is perfect on its own or could slip into your tote and hold all your essentials. I’m also wearing a couple other James Avery pieces. The Vintage Alphabet Pendant is one of my favorite things to wear, and if I want to switch things up, I can clip it to my new zip pouch. I’m also wearing the Hammered Hook-On Bracelet with the Point the Way Charm attached. As a frequent traveler, it reminds me of where I’ve been and inspires me to keep exploring. It’s removable as well, so I can change out my style for the season or even everyday. I love the versatility of James Avery jewelry.
Do you have a personal connection with James Avery? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear your story, and I hope you’ve enjoyed mine.
James Avery is more than a store. It’s my story.
