10 Reasons Why I Tried Stitch Fix and Loved It

Stitch Fix Review | Cathedrals and Cafes Blog

I recently decided to try Stitch Fix because I had heard some pretty great feedback from some ladies I know. I’m not a stranger to subscription boxes (our dog Bella enjoys a monthly box from Bark Box), but I have never tried a service just for me. I thought that it might be helpful to share my experience, as I’ve had numerous people ask me what I think of Stitch Fix and if I would recommend it.

Before I begin, I want you to know that Stitch Fix has not paid me for endorsing their brand and these opinions are my own. Since it was such a great experience and there seem to be a lot of questions out there, I hope I can help you decide if it’s the right decision for you.

There are a lot of subscription box companies out there providing all kinds of products for different styles, niches, and hobbies. I thought it would be a fun experiment to see how well a stylist could find pieces that I would love as well as pieces that will actually fit. I’m pretty picky when it comes to jeans or pants in general, so I wondered how well that would go. Honestly, it was the excitement of not knowing what I would find when I opened my first Fix that pushed me to actually do it. It’s like opening a gift when it arrives – so fun! And with my extremely busy schedule, I don’t always have time to go to the store or even shop online.

The 10 reasons why I tried Stitch Fix and loved it are:

1 – Detailed Online Style Profile – The first step is completing your online style profile. I was really pleased with the thoroughness of the questions asked. It’s not just about your sizes but how you prefer your clothes to fit, what style of jeans you like, areas of your body you like to flaunt or hide, and how you dress for certain events. For sizing information, I went by the sizes marked on some of my favorite pieces from my current wardrobe.

2 – Schedule your fix whenever is convenient for you – Right now my Fixes are scheduled every other month, but you have the flexibility to choose as frequently as every 2-3 weeks or as few as every 3 months. You can cancel at any time, so there’s no long term commitment.

3 – Variety – Each Fix has a variety of pieces including clothing, accessories, and shoes. My first Fix came with two tops, a cardigan, a pair of jeans, and a pair of booties. It was already a complete outfit that could be mixed and matched completely on its own. But what I liked is that Stitch Fix encourages you to try everything on with pieces you already own. It was like being in the dressing room without leaving my closet.

4 – Budget – Select the budget that you’re comfortable with. For each type of item you have the ability to select a price range. You’ll do this when you set up your online style profile.

5 – Time to try on – You have 3 days to try everything on and send back what you don’t want to keep. You can even ask for an extension.

6 – Style inspiration provided – Included in your Fix are suggested ways to style your items with pieces you may already own. I liken these suggestions to mini inspiration boards. Even though I didn’t have exactly what the inspiration showed, I often had very similar pieces.

7 – Prepaid envelope – It’s easy to send anything back you don’t want to keep. Just place the items into the prepaid envelope and drop in any USPS box (I decided to keep all 5 of the items sent to me).

8 – Easy online checkout  – When you’re ready to checkout, the online process is really easy. This is also your opportunity to provide feedback to your stylist regarding fit, fabric, price, etc. Just be honest. It’ll only help your stylist to provide better options for you in your next Fix.

9 – Discount – You’ll save 25% when you purchase all 5 items. When you combine this with the $20 styling fee that is applied to your purchase, it’s a pretty good deal.

10 – Make changes – You can adjust your style profile at any time. If you need different sizes (they have maternity options, moms) or if your style preferences change (no more purple things, please) you can make these changes at any time online.

The outfit I’m wearing consists of some items from my first Fix. Full disclosure, it’s October and still 90 degrees out. So as much as I would have loved to pair this with a gorgeous black and white blanket scarf (which I actually pulled out for the shoot) I couldn’t take the heat, literally. Just keeping it real, peeps. But in lieu of that I opted for one of my favorite Kate Spade bags and my new Kendra Scott Elora earrings.

These jeans fit like a glove, which was a big concern for me. I just don’t like being disappointed when I try on a pair of jeans I WANT to love but can’t because of fit. They are also really soft and I love the color. The bell sleeves of the top are definitely an on-trend detail I like. I’ve also worn the booties a LOT! I mean a lot. They go with almost everything and are really comfortable. Also a perfect fit.
