I am finally back with another beauty post after what seems like forever. I know I’ve said this before, but I really do intend on including more posts like this. I’ve been so busy with work and traveling lately, that I haven’t made time for any special pampering outside my usual routine. But now that I’ve tried this sheet mask, I think it needs to go into my regular rotation once a week. It’s super easy to use, very packable, and only takes a few minutes. It would make a great stocking stuffer, too!
Before I go further, I want you to know that these opinions are entirely my own. I’m no dermatologist, nor do I work for Garnier, but when I find something I love that works for me, I want to share it!
By now you’ve probably seen the surge in sheet mask popularity. As usual, yours truly was a little skeptical. But Garnier is a brand that I have trusted for years. I’m a fan of their hair care products (especially this leave in conditioning cream) and I knew I could trust them to be my introduction to sheet masks.
I have been using products with Hyaluronic Acid (HA) for some time now, including a hydrating face wash I featured in my 3 Favorite Beauty Buys post, and I’ve noticed a difference in how supple my skin feels. I don’t believe in a miracle “fountain of youth,” but I think HA comes really close. The Moisture Bomb Super Hydrating Mattifying Sheet Mask from Garnier also contains HA as well as green tea extract.
After one use, I have to agree with the claims on the package – (1) my skin seemed purified and fresh, (2) my skin felt balanced, and (3) my skin looked clearer. Let’s break these down, shall we?
(1) After removing the mask and massaging any remaining product into my skin, my face felt very clean. Actually while I was wearing the mask my skin felt pretty amazing. It had an intensely cool sensation the entire time. I almost didn’t want to take it off (except for the fact that I would scare the neighbors and small children, but I digress). There was no need to rinse my face afterward and my skin was very soft to the touch.
(2) Balanced…hmm…I’m not quite sure what is intended by the word “balanced” but if it means my skin felt evenly toned and fresh, then the answer is yes. With some products I’ve used in the past my skin can feel hydrated in one area but still dry in another (my neck area, for example). With the Garnier Moisture Bomb Sheet Mask my face felt evenly fresh and hydrated all over.
(3) Clear skin is hugely important to me. As with most adolescents I struggled with acne until I worked with a dermatologist to get it under control. I still get the occasional breakout (which I have attributed to monthly hormonal changes). I haven’t had any issues with this sheet mask irritating my skin or causing breakouts. In fact, it actually seemed to reduce the size of my pores. And the one little red bump on my chin seemed slightly less angry afterwards.
See? Pretty scary, right kids? I’m trying to smile with the mask on but I didn’t want to lose the contact with my skin, so here’s a thumps up!
Overall, I’m really wishing that there was a full body wrap version of this sheet mask. It honestly feels that good! So go on, treat yo’self! Especially during the holidays where we could all use a little de-stressing, even our skin.
Have you tried a sheet mask? Any favorites you’d recommend?
