2019 Summer Bucket List

Fashion, Lifestyle / Thursday, June 6th, 2019

Every year when summer rolls around, I want to do as they say – all the things! Time slows down, the days are longer, and I’m feeling like anything is possible. Summer is a little like having an endless string of Fridays (my favorite day of the week).

My 2019 summer bucket list is something that I came up with after looking at my planner and realizing that we have a lot of fun things to look forward to. It got me thinking – what else do I want to try and squeeze in?

Do you have a summer bucket list? Maybe it’s a travel bucket list or a tourist-in-your-own-city bucket list. Maybe you want to ride a hot air balloon or take an art class. Having a summer bucket list doesn’t require you to complete any of the activities. It’s not meant to be stressful or a competition. It’s a list for fun. A list of dreams. A list of things you want to make time for or try, at least once.

Wear a bright shade of lipstick

I always go for a neutral shade or red, on the occasion I dress up a bit more. But I’d love to experiment with more pinks or corals and get out of my comfort zone a bit.

Read at least 3 books

I’m on my way to completing this one, and will likely read more than this. Bottom line, I love to read and summer is a great time to do it. I’ll be sharing my favorite summer reads with you soon!

Attend more live music events

I love live music. There’s just something about a person singing their heart out without all the auto-tune and studio perfection. I prefer the raw sound and seeing someone master their musical instrument is always inspiring.

Watch fireworks

The small town I grew up in always did a fireworks show for July 4th. I can only remember one time where I was actually able to see them. A friend of mine invited me and I remember sitting on a blanket in the back of her mom’s suv, swatting at mosquitoes, and being in complete awe. Since then, I’ve loved fireworks shows. The most impressive display I’ve seen in person was in Paris for Bastille Day a few years ago. We are usually out of town on July 4th, so it’s tough, but there’s a theme park nearby that does them nightly. I’m hoping to catch a show.

Cook a complete dinner from start to finish

As you know, I’m no whiz in the kitchen. I can make a great charcuterie spread, but a full meal is just not my forte. Still, I’d like to try and plan a fun date night at home where I actually do the cooking. We have some new cookbooks full of ideas. I’ll probably burn something but I think the effort counts.

Practice meditation and yoga

There was a time where I was pretty good at yoga and practiced it frequently. I’m not sure why I stopped, but I’d like to build it into my routine. With my Peloton, I have access to classes so there’s really no excuse. I also think the meditation will help with my flight anxiety. I just completed my first Peloton meditation class yesterday, so I’m off to a good start!

Go to a farmer’s market

I love a good farmer’s market but for some reason only make it to one about once or twice a year. I’d like to change that this summer and support local farmers. There’s nothing like freshly picked summer veggies.

Try a new hairstyle

I want to try more ways to style my hair. I almost always wear it down or in a ponytail, but I’d like to master a couple of braided options. It gets really hot here and having my hair off my neck in a cute bun or braid sounds fun.

Forget the diet for once and enjoy a sweet treat

Nothing says summer like s’mores and I could eat my weight in them! I want to take time to enjoy this treat and not beat myself up over it later. It’s ok to splurge every now and then. Life is too short not to.

Work on my photography skills

Summer is a great time for snapping photos because there’s always something fun happening. I want to get better at taking portraits and find new and creative ways to compose a shot.
