Balkans Travel Itinerary

Europe, Travel / Wednesday, July 17th, 2019

It’s good to finally be back! After traveling for the better part of a month, it feels good to be home and back to a routine. Sorry to leave you guys hanging for so long, but hopefully you followed along on my Instagram! I have so much to share from our trip to the Balkans, from Eat+Stay+Play guides to every city, a recap of our sailing adventure, how to capture that Adriatic style, and of course, all about the wine. Before we get into any of that, let’s start with our Balkans travel itinerary.

Of all the Balkan countries, we traveled to Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, and Montenegro. Most of our friends weren’t surprised with our choice of Croatia, with its current popularity (hey, Game of Thrones fans), but many were intrigued by the others and how exactly we got from place to place. This will give you an idea of how to plan your travel. I’ll go into much more detail in future guides.

You’ll note the prevalence of private transportation on this trip. While we usually prefer the ease and convenience of Europe’s train system, the countries we visited this time do not have rail transportation. Driving is pretty much your only option, and due to the number of border crossings, we felt most comfortable with reliable and highly rated transfer companies like Airtrail Slovenia and Octopus Transfers.
