I’d say Happy New Year but we’re basically halfway through January at this point (by the way, how is that possible?), so I feel a little tardy to the party. Anyway, I hope January is a happy one for you so far!
Let’s catch up…
We had a really nice Christmas and holiday season overall. We were fortunate to be able to travel a bit in December. We went to Amsterdam for a good 10 days and managed to time it pretty well. On the last day the country went into another lockdown, so that was a little disappointing. I will just say it…man, am I SICK of the pandemic (no pun intended). I know we all are. Ugh… That being said, I’m choosing to focus on the things that I am able to do and search for as many positive things that make me happy as I can – like travel!
Amsterdam, like other places in Europe we’ve visited this time of year, felt magical. I loved seeing all the shops decorated for Christmas. There were Christmas trees just about everywhere and they’re all real. There were lights strung over streets and hanging from trees. It was just the most festive ever! I even went ice skating! Amsterdam was wonderful in so many ways. Did you get a chance to travel at the end of the year?
I feel so fortunate to have been able to spend Christmas with both our families. My in-laws moved into their new home and our girls loved running around their huge yard. We hosted my parents and spent days just relaxing, doing puzzles, going on hikes, and watching movies. We ate so much good food and there were more than enough gifts to go around. This is my favorite time of year because of all the cozy time we get to spend with those we love. It’s a great reminder to keep those special to you close to heart all year long.
As I look ahead to 2022, I have decided a few things regarding what I want this blog to continue being. Don’t worry, I’m not doing a major overhaul or completely switching lanes. Although I’m not ready to reveal what exactly these new things are just yet (stay tuned), I do know that I’m going to *try* to let go of the self-imposed pressure of perfectionism. I want to get back to blogging what I want without the need to ascertain whether every single post is “on-brand.” I think sometimes it’s ok to go a little off-track, maybe even share more behind-the-scenes stuff. And I want to be more of myself here, sharing more of my personality and goofy family antics we’re into. I’ve started doing that on Instagram and it feels so good to get a little more personal (and the response from my audience has been amazing)! Thank you guys for that!
So, get ready for some new and exciting things! And please know from the bottom of my heart how much I appreciate you reading this blog. Your support means the world and I can’t wait to take you along with me in 2022!
