A Basics Refresh From Mott & Bow

Fashion / Friday, September 18th, 2020

Let’s have a quick chat about basics! I love wearing dresses in the summer, but as the season changes to fall (or whenever the temperature decides to go down in Texas) I go back to who I am at my core – a jeans and t-shirt person. Basics are a big part of my closet and I’m always on the hunt for a closet refresh. So, when the team at Mott & Bow reached out about their comfy jeans and tees, I looked forward to giving them a spin.

The struggle to find the perfect fit tee is real. It can’t be too tight or too loose, it has to have the perfect sleeve length (i.e. no cap sleeves – yuck – sorry, not sorry), the fabric needs to be the perfect blend of soft cotton, it can’t be see-through, and it has to be long enough to tuck in. That’s a tall order for one little t-shirt. The women’s tees from Mott & Bow check all these boxes and still remain affordably chic. I’m wearing the Classic Crew – Sara tee in black stripe. For size reference I’m wearing a small, and the fit is perfect. It’s lightweight without feeling flimsy and it’s so soft that you could sleep in it. I really love this tee!

Mott & Bow’s history is rooted in denim. As they say, “it’s not just denim, it’s denim science.” Go here and take a look at just how involved the production of their jeans is. I’m always willing to give a new-to-me brand’s denim a try. Aren’t we always searching for that holy grail pair of jeans?

I’m wearing the Mom Jean – Ridge in medium dark blue. I always hear the SNL skit about mom jeans in my head whenever I see denim called mom jeans, but these are nothing like anything our moms used to wear. These are the highest rise jeans I own at this point and I’ll admit that I was a bit skeptical. But I did feel all sucked in so that’s good, I think. Haha… I also like the slightly cropped length. They fit true-to-size but because of the stretch, I would stick with your smaller size if you’re between sizes. These jeans are a great addition to my wardrobe basics.

I love how the high rise gives the illusion of longer legs.
