It’s time for the part of travel that I dislike the most – packing. But I make it easier on myself by curating a packing list of all the summer outfits and accessories I plan to bring. For our trip to Croatia (oh and also Slovenia, Bosnia, and Montenegro) I’m bringing a mix of summer dresses, shorts, breezy tops, and sandals. Everything is “smart casual” so I can get the most use out of my options, whether it’s touring around during the day or going out for a nice dinner. An outfit that transitions from one to the other is a plus.
Weather is a big determining factor for a summer trip to a mediterranean destination. It’s going to be pretty warm so I always plan for lightweight cottons, linens, and of course a few swimsuits. I can’t wait to get in those crystal clear Adriatic waters! For a list of what NOT to pack, check out my post here.
Croatia Packing List: Summer Outfits and Accessories
Dresses and Rompers
Let’s start with the easiest summer outfits on the list: dresses and rompers. These items make packing a breeze and getting dressed even easier. I’m probably most comfortable in a dress because they keep me cool in a flattering silhouette.
+ T-shirt maxi dress (featured in this post). I bought it in two colors and find it to be the most versatile dress on the planet. It’s perfect for travel days, beach days, or dressed up with jewelry for dinner. It’s lightweight and soft, so I know I can wash and hang dry if needed.
+ Button front midi knit dress (as seen in this post). Another really soft and “keep cool” option that looks great with sun hats or other fun accessories. I love the deep brick red color, too. If it came in other colors I would definitely buy another one.
+ Woven striped midi dress. This dress was a steal at $16 and comes in a couple other colors. I’ve thrown it on over a bathing suit and also worn it to dinner with wedges. It’s so flattering!
+ Striped tie-waist midi dress. I saw this dress in the store window and had to get it. We had just watched To Catch a Thief and it reminded me of something Grace Kelly would have worn in the South of France. I sized down and it fits perfectly. I’m planning on wearing it to a couple of nice dinners.
+ Flutter sleeve floral maxi dress. This is another great option for a nice evening out. The fabric may be too warm for a day in the sun, as it’s a poly blend, but I love the colors. I’m also going a little out of my comfort zone with the floral print. I usually stick with solid colors or stripes.
+ Blue and white striped cami romper. The perfect casual romper with sandals or flats. Easy and comfortable.
+ Sleeveless keyhole romper. I bought this romper in black and a floral pattern. I’m thinking floral for day and black for a casual dinner out.
Tops
Also on my Croatia packing list are a selection of tees and tanks. I’m bringing a couple pairs of denim cutoffs that’ll be easy to just throw on when lounging in our Airbnbs or heading to the beach.
+ Split back tank top. A plain white tank is just a smart summer basic.
+ Linen blend button front tank. I love this little cami tank. It looks great with shorts or jeans (I may bring a pair of white cropped denim).
+ Basic white v-neck pocket tee. Another smart summer basic.
+ Swing tank. Just another good summer tank top. These are so light and easily packable and washable.
Bottoms
+ Denim cutoffs. On travel days, where we are moving from one location to another via train, I prefer sturdy denim cutoffs.
+ White shorts. They go with everything. But be sure to bring a Tide pen just in case. 😉 These shorts come in black as well, which is another neutral basic I like to pack.
Shoes
Ahh, my favorite part of any packing list. I can easily go overboard on the number of shoes I bring, so it’s important to pair down to day shoes, walking or travel shoes, and evening shoes. I stick with neutral tones that go with anything.
+ Espadrille wedges. These are always a staple on my summer packing list. This pair is comfortable enough to walk in.
+ Flat strappy sandals. Love the pop of gold in this pair.
+ Adidas Baseline sneakers. I like these because I find them to be more versatile than a regular workout sneaker.
Bags and Accessories
+ Oversized sunglasses and white frame sunglasses. I like to switch up my look with the right pair of shades.
+ Floppy straw hat and structured panama hat. Nest these inside each other and pack clothing around them so they don’t get squished in your bag.
+ Tassel clutch. The perfect bag for an evening out.
+ Pacsafe Crossbody bag. This bag goes on every trip and gives me peace of mind when it comes to security.
Swimsuits and Cover Ups
+ Ruffle tie-front bikini top and bottom.
+ Red bikini top and bottom.
+ Deep V one piece suit. I decided to add a one piece swimsuit this year. I love all the colors this one comes in and it’s very flattering.
+ Pom pom cover up. This could double as a tunic and I love the pom pom trim details.
