In between all the cleaning and organizing going on around here, I’ve been keeping my zen with a string of crochet projects (Lulu Basket Bag, pochette, and sweater vest to name just a few). It has been getting harder and harder to keep quiet on some BIG NEWS that’s coming to the blog, so I need a way to funnel my energy into something else. Don’t worry, you’ll find out soon, I promise! You can expect to hear something in February. Thanks for sticking around, by the way. 😉 Until then, here’s a look at my latest project – this crochet bubble sleeve cardigan!
Watch my Reel to see this cardigan in action!
I started this cardigan the day before Christmas Eve and while it took the longest time of all my projects to complete so far, it was totally worth it! I absolutely love the way it turned out. I did take my time on this one, too, making sure to get it absolutely right. It’s really important to get the fit right on pieces you’ll be wearing, which is not something I worry about when making accessories.
I purchased the pattern from Love Crafts here. It is designed by Little Golden Nook and it’s called the Poet Cardigan. I also purchased the yarn from Love Crafts. I used Paintbox Yarns Simply Chunky in the color Granite Grey. I ended up ordering 3 more skeins than required. This yarn is really affordable and seems to go on sale quite often. It’s soft, kind of squishy, and definitely cozy enough to keep you warm.
The bubble sleeves on this cardigan are what makes it! The pattern incorporates a “bobble cluster” or BC stitch to create the look. I keep calling them bubbles instead of bobbles, but whatever you call them they are cute! The stitch is not difficult but Little Golden Nook has some very helpful videos on her Instagram. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite crochet designers to follow.
I wore my crochet bubble sleeve cardigan on a lunch date last weekend to The Hoppy Monk. If you’re in the San Antonio area, you should definitely check them out! Lots of craft brews on tap and the food is actually really good! We had the Gochu I.P.A. Wings and ended up ordering a second order because they were THAT good!
Currently I’m working on another sweater using Paintbox yarns again. This time it’s an actual pullover style so the fitting will be important. Follow me on Instagram for sneak peeks!
