My latest crochet project has kept me busy on cozy nights here in Amsterdam. There’s something about a rainy evening that makes taking up a crochet project that much more enjoyable – and cozy (or gezellig as it’s said in Dutch). This Dutch blue crochet sweater turned out beautifully and I look forward to wearing it on many outings as we continue to explore our new home here in The Netherlands.
My favorite details of this crochet sweater are the neckline and the sleeves. These feminine features nicely balance the boxy fit. Mine turned into more of an off-shoulder look (the pattern photos make it look like it has a wide boatneck), but I really like it. I’m thinking this is going to be a nice date night sweater. The soft yarn makes it very comfortable too. I’m contemplating adding a small embroidery to the front but can’t decide if I should just leave it plain. What do you think?
You can find this pattern for free from Love Crafts here. I ordered Paintbox Yarns Baby DK yarn from Love Crafts in the color Midnight Blue, or Dutch Blue as I’m calling it. 😉 The blue color reminds me of the blue in the blue and white pottery from Delft.
What should I make next? I have a bag pattern with some lovely camel colored yarn waiting for me back in the states, which is likely my next project. It’ll be perfect for my next transatlantic flight. We are getting ready to head back to Texas to continue to pack up and move our belongings to Amsterdam. I’m ready to see our girls again but I know I will be sad to leave. I’m working on another post where I’ll share all the things I’m feeling right now. There’s a lot to be thankful for!
