It’s rare that when a new line or collection launches that I’m completely enamored with every single piece. Then Target comes along (like always and why I love them so much) and releases Universal Thread. It’s as if they designed each item with me in mind. Have you seen Universal Thread yet? As a whole it belongs styled against the most calming of Instagram feeds full of cushy rugs and bright white interior spaces dotted with a succulent here and there. If you follow @monicawangphoto or @sun.soul.style then you know what I mean. Universal Thread is casual and cozy and, well, so fresh and so clean clean! I think every item in the collection is under $40, which is also pretty amazing.
I started curating my favorites and realized very quickly that I could include everything! The fabrics are soft and flowy and the color palette is muted and relaxed. The bags and shoes are standouts in the collection. The espadrille flatforms and the ring handle tote are going on my wish list for spring/summer.
Favorites from Target’s Universal Thread Collection
In all I have 30 items that made my favorites list. Scroll through the image carousel below and click to shop them. What pieces from Universal Thread do you have your eye on?
Why these pieces made the favorites list:
Ring Handle Tote Bag • This bag looks much more expensive than its under $30 price tag. Interior pockets and a cross-body strap make it double for work or weekends.
Striped Ruffle Sleeve Top • I’m becoming more of a fan of ruffles. This top is the perfect partner for your favorite jeans.
Edwina Fashion Boots • I’m not sure I can have enough booties in my life. I love the subtle details and the peep toe of this pair.
Knit Tank Dress • This dress has spring and summer travel written all over it. Until temps warm up, I would layer a long cardi or denim jacket over it. I also love the olive color.
Wenda Cut Out Booties • These look like the Free People version for MUCH less. They come in ivory and cognac.
Military Jacket • A lightweight jacket is a must when transitioning to spring. Military details have always been a favorite of mine.
Saddle Bag • I love the shape of saddlebags. They are so classic and this one would easily double as a camera bag.
Agnes Quarter Strap Espadrille Sandals • Two things I love in one shoe – espadrille style and flatform. I’ve mentioned my love for espadrilles before and these are perfect for summer.
Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans – Medium Wash • By now my closet looks like a denim bar, but I can’t help myself around a great wash. I also love that Universal Thread is incorporating recycled cotton.
Gingham Button Back Top 3/4 Sleeve Blouse • I love the sleeves and boxy fit, which a quick front-tuck could switch up. The back has a feminine V shape, too.
Ruana • Kimono style jackets are perfect over jeans and t-shirts as they are over dresses. This one also comes in black.
Raffia Panama Hat with Black Band • I bought a Panama hat in Athens last summer and it saved my life. This is a timeless style perfect for summer.
Ava Shield Espadrille Flatform Sandals • See note above. 😉
Handloom Tote Bag With Faux Leather Handle • I have a little tote bag obsession and adore this one. I’m using mine more and more to hit the market or gather odds and ends around the house.
Chevron Casting and Triangular Stone Necklace • I love the look of layering necklaces and this set is two in one.
Striped Kimono • This kimono gives you the option of going shorter in length.
Oversized Oblong Scarf • Always a great travel staple.
Handloom & Jacquard Fabric Clutch Bag • For all those little essentials. This clutch is too cute!
Vauda Slip on Sneakers Espadrilles • Shocking…another espadrille makes the list. These are similar to other higher-end styles but look just as lovely.
Long Sleeve Soft Twill Shirt • I love mixing masculine and feminine in a shirt like this one.
Stone Charm Hoop Earrings • Dainty and gold and go with everything.
Festival Web Belt • I had to include this belt, even though it’s not something I would wear every day. Special pieces like this can easily be added to your wardrobe at this price point.
High-Rise Wide Leg Jeans • Boho-style denim will always be a favorite of mine. Combine it with the belt above and you’re Coachella ready.
Crew Sweatshirt • One of my favorite staples but looks so much more polished than that old college sweatshirt does.
Striped Short Sleeve Button Down Shirt • The longer hem of this top is my favorite feature, aside from the stripe.
Kerrigan Slide Sandal • I live in slide sandals in the summer and this pair is very chic.
Tie Front Pullover • That tie-front completely makes this sweater. I’m thinking skinny jeans and boots or leggings and your favorite vintage Nikes.
Autumn Braided Cut Out Fashion Boots • When I said that shoes and bags were standouts in this collection, I wasn’t kidding. I love the details in this pair.
Cropped Stripe Jumpsuit • I am on the hunt for a great jumpsuit this season and this one checks all the boxes.
Denim Shirt Dress – Medium Wash • When in doubt, go with a shirt dress. The shoe options are limitless (heels, sandals, booties, boots, wedges…)
