It’s been over a year since I’ve been to any kind of special event, so I was really excited when I received an invite to preview the new Born On Fifth x Antonio Melani Collection at Dillard’s last weekend. My friend Pamela Lutrell from Over 50 Feeling 40 organized an intimate preview at Dillard’s at The Shops at La Cantera before the store was even open to the public. It was so much fun to get to see the new collection, learn about the collaboration between Emily Hertz of Born On Fifth and Antonio Melani, and try on some pieces. After seeing a few pieces online ahead of the event, I knew I would probably like the collection, but I ended up LOVING it! I couldn’t wait to share my favorites here for you. When it comes to spring and summer dresses, this collection has you covered.
Let’s talk about construction. These pieces are so…well…made! In a world of fast fashion, I find much of today’s clothing to be cheaply made, unlined, and frankly with seams that don’t stand up to much wear (or wash). That’s why I usually can’t justify the price tag. I’d rather invest in accessories. But, this is not the case with the Born On Fifth x Antonio Melani collection at Dillard’s. Every piece has been artfully crafted with full linings and reinforced stitching along seams and hems. The fabrics are soft and constructed with full weaves so not a thing is see-through. Darts are perfectly placed to create beautiful silhouettes. Each dress flows and sways naturally when you walk due to the careful construction of the gathering at the waist. These are the things I look for when shopping for clothes. Can you tell I grew up in fabric stores with a seamstress mother and grandmother? 😉
It was just so fun to be shopping in person again. Getting to catch up with my friend Kim Frick of The Real Golden Girl blog (@frickspicks on Instagram) was another highlight. She inspires me everyday with her style, and it was great to see each other outside of Instagram. 🙂
I give so much credit to Dillard’s for creating a safe environment to shop. As we were there before the store opened to the public, I felt comfortable removing my mask for a quick photo. Myself along with the other ladies there have all been fully vaccinated too, so that was another reason I felt more comfortable attending. Slowly but surely we are moving forward!
Truthfully, every single piece is just so lovely. Below are some of my favorites from the Born On Fifth collaboration, plus a couple of other new Antonio Melani pieces that I purchased. I linked each piece below so you can easily shop them. What do you think? Which piece do you love?
