We are starting to feel some cooler temps this week, and I couldn’t be more excited! I’m sure the weather will yo-yo around in true Texas fashion, but for now I’m going to revel in wearing jeans and a (very) lightweight sweater without breaking a sweat.
In addition to updating my Fall wardrobe, I also brought in some new favorites to my skincare routine. I’m blessed with oily skin and the ability to live in a pretty temperate climate, so I don’t feel the need to go crazy. But I have subbed in some additional moisturizers and gentler skincare products for Fall. I continue to get requests from C&C readers to share more about my skincare routine, so I’m happy to share updates, new products, and reviews.
This is not a sponsored post, btw. I purchased all of these products myself and am only sharing what I love and why I love it. As with all my honest reviews, opinions are my own.
Lightweight but Effective Body Moisturizer
I talk all the time about my love for Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost line, and so naturally when they unveiled a body gel cream, I had to try it. It has all the same Hyaluronic Acid benefits of the water gel for your face, but in a quickly absorbing body cream. I love this for all over and I don’t find it to be sticky. I don’t like the feeling of heavy moisturizers underneath layers of clothing, and this one doesn’t feel that way. Only downside is that Lola always tries to lick my legs after I apply it.

Vitamin C Serum
Vitamin C Serum is a must for me year round, but it’s especially good for brightening and repairing summer skin damage. I was determined to wear sunscreen more this summer, and I did really well with daily SPF on my face. Even still, I feel that my face could use some brightening. I have always tanned very easily and usually by the end of summer I’m pretty dark. But as I age, I really want to treat and prevent any spots that might pop up on my face. Vitamin C serums help even your skin pigmentation and boost collagen production, an anti-aging benefit I also like.
Vitamin C serums can be pretty pricey, but this one from TruSkin has an affordable price tag. It’s also an Allure Beauty Pick. I like that it combines Vitamin C with Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin E. Kind of a triple threat! It’s also plant-based and has no synthetic additives or fragrances. I’ve been using it nightly and the dark spots on my forehead from all that Croatian sun have definitely faded.

Moisturizing Makeup Remover
I posted about the Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser on Instagram stories and there were so many of you who have also tried it. This product is the first of its kind for me. I’m usually just a wash-n-go kind of gal and my usual facial cleanser is enough to take off my daily makeup. But those times (especially during the holiday season) where I’m wearing a heavier application of mascara or eyeliner, I need something that will remove makeup without feeling like I’m just ripping into my eyes. Even a makeup cleansing cloth feels too harsh around my eyes sometimes. I really like this butter cleanser from Drunk Elephant and was extremely pleased with how well it literally melted off the makeup. And my face was so soft afterwards. Lola photobombed this shot but it was too cute not to share.
