My idea of the perfect girls’ weekend involves getting as comfortable as possible, finding a great patio and sipping on my favorite wines while catching up with the ladies I love most. This past weekend I hosted my three closest friends from Houston. Well, technically one lives in New Braunfels now and another might be moving to New Jersey, but no matter where we hail from we always pick right back up where we left off. Rosé all day? More like, rosé all weekend!
We did what we do best – tell great stories and drink great Texas wine. I was thrilled to be able to share a couple of my favorite wines from William Chris Vineyards and Yes We Can Wines. In anticipation of the Texas Wine Revolution coming up this Sunday, the team over at William Chris sent me a bottle of their Pétillant Naturel Rosé and a package of Sway Rosé from Yes We Can Wines. I’m really excited to learn more about these wines at the Texas Wine Revolution!
Wait…don’t tell me you’re reading this and thinking, “What does Texas know about wine?” Well I’m here to tell you – A LOT! A panel of sommeliers and wine experts ranked Texas a top wine region in the U.S. saying that the “Lone Star State produces some of the country’s most surprisingly great wine.” So yeah, I’d say we’re giving Napa a run for its money.
Naturally, no perfect girls’ weekend is complete without a few great Texas wines. Here are my tips on hosting the perfect girls’ weekend and a little more about these great rosés.
How to Host the Perfect Girls’ Weekend
Break out the bubbly
Everything feels like a celebration when bubbles are involved. I always love it when I’m greeted with a glass of champagne or sparkling wine at events, so I’ve started doing that with my own guests. The Pétillant Naturel rosé from William Chris Vineyards is perfectly pink and just sweet enough for getting your girl party started. The bottle and label design are elegant and beautiful but it’s what on the inside that counts. A pétillant naturel is an ancient wine-making style where the wine is bottled before primary fermentation is finished. Secondary yeasts or sugars are not added. The result is something a little more rustic than your traditional sparkling wines, but every bit as delicious. Its cloudy pink appearance and bottle cap seal suggest a fun evening ahead!
Girls just wanna snack
The perfect girls’ weekend requires food as well as drink. Enter the snacks! We noshed on everything from pasta to pizza to charcuterie and of course, chocolate. One snack that always makes its way onto the table is the plain ol’ potato chip. That salty thin crisp is the perfect companion to any wine. I first saw this trend one summer in France a few years ago. Every bottle of rosé came with a little bowl of chips. I’ve since seen it all over Italy and Spain. Plus, chips are so easy!
Keep it comfy and casual
The biggest part of your girls’ weekend is probably just hanging out together. I’m a jeans and t-shirt girl all the way. I love this tee I found last year at Old Navy. I mean, the slogan might as well be my personal mantra. It’s sold out but I linked several of my other favorite rosé all day pieces below.

Party on the patio
We are blessed with amazing weather in central Texas so I’m all about taking the party outside. But sometimes heavy wine bottles and delicate glasses can be more of a hazard outdoors. That’s why I’m so glad it’s become socially acceptable to drink wine out of a can! Sway Rosé from Yes We Can Wines is the perfect rosé for your next girls’ weekend. I’ve tasted quite a few canned wines and this one is actually GOOD. Another cool thing? It’s the first 100% Texas grown and Texas made canned rosé! It’s a refreshing rosé that I’ll be bringing with me everywhere this summer. It also has a really beautiful white and pink can design that you won’t be embarrassed to put out at your next indoor affair. The rose has a little accent mark above it taking it from rose to rosé. All day, my friends…all day.
Just remember that hosting a perfect girls’ weekend doesn’t mean it has to be Instagrammably perfect. You don’t need to stress over the perfect location or make strict plans. What makes it perfect is the time you get to spend with your best friends. Just kick back, relax, let the rosé flow and enjoy making memories.
