Another week, another crochet project. Honestly I’m so glad I discovered this hobby at this time in my life. It’s really been a blessing in that it’s served as not only a creative outlet (which I always need) but also a stress reducer! The Magnolia Crochet Tote Bag came together really fast, and I love it for so many reasons! And as usual, I’ve curated some similar styles to shop with a selection of spring crochet styles to love.

If you want to make this bag yourself, you can get the free pattern from Mama In A Stitch’s blog here. Or, you can do what I did and order the Magnolia Tote Bag Crochet Kit from Lion Brand Yarn. I liked that the kit came with all the yarn I would need, plus Lion Brand puts their kits on sale regularly. The yarn is Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton and it worked up like a dream. It comes in so many beautiful colors, too. This pattern was super easy to follow. You start by making 24 “granny squares,” something I had not done yet. They are easy and quick to do. I’ve been spending a lot of time in the car lately while our home goes through realtor showings, and these little squares are the perfect car project. My favorite aspect of this bag has to be the colors. The combo of gold, deep blue, dark gray, and pop of white is so pretty.
Speaking of the house, we have been on the market for about 10 days now and we hope to get an offer soon. When a showing request pops up, I grab the girls and we head to the park or grab a snack at a local drive thru place. We get at least an hour’s notice so it’s not too bad, but the first weekend we were on market we had a ton of showings. It was a little hectic. Regardless of how long it takes to sell, we are proceeding with our move to Amsterdam likely in May. Paul is making another trip over at the end of April to do some work and I’ll be staying behind again. It’s a stressful time in our lives but I know it’ll be worth it. I can’t believe it’s already April! (and no, our move to Amsterdam is not some kind of April Fool’s joke)
Back to the project…
If you think “granny squares” are new to you, you’ve probably seen them but just didn’t know that’s what they’re called. I’ve seen so many examples of them lately in tops, totes, and even headbands and home decor. If you’re not into crafting your own, you can shop the spring crochet styles I curated below!

It’s a beautiful bag and you did a great job. I am also glad that your moving is slowly coming together. How exciting! But I am sure it’s a lot of stress. One day at a time and happy Tuesday!
