My latest crochet project is what I’m calling the market essentials crochet tote. Its actual name is the Bermuda tote, but since I made my version using a winter color palette, it didn’t seem right to keep such a tropical moniker. So what should I call my version? The suggestion box is open!
This tote is another beautiful design by Alexi of Two of Wands. You know how much I love her stuff. I had intended to make it over the summer but a little thing like moving to Amsterdam got in the way. So when I sat down to start it last month, it just didn’t feel right to use bright colors as the pattern suggests. We had just entered the cozy season, the leaves were turning orange and red, and the temperatures dropped. Autumn and winter colors were top of mind. The great thing about Color Theory, the yarn I used (a Two of Wands x Lion Brand collaboration), is that there are so many beautiful color combinations. Alexi does a deep dive into color theory on her blog with a three part series (part one, part two, part three, and a bonus extra credit lesson here).
I crocheted this tote at home and a little on the train to Paris. This little tote is well traveled! Lately it’s been a great market tote, perfect for all my essentials with Lola. I just toss in my wallet, keys, reusable shopping bag, and poo bags (don’t EVER forget those) and we are off to our favorite Friday market.
