Hi, friends! Hopefully you’ve been following along with me on Instagram over the past week or so, and if you did, then you know we just spent a glorious week+ in Paris! This was a trip that came together faster than any of our previous trips to Europe. Once France opened up to vaccinated Americans, we booked flights and hoped for the best. It ended up being one of the best experiences in spite of our apprehensions about traveling again in a pandemic world. Read my Eat+Stay+Play travel guide to Paris in the summer, but today I’m sharing a post about my Paris summer wardrobe & tips for packing!
Packing…every traveler’s favorite thing to do, right? I have loathed this part of travel for so long, but this time I relished every minute of folding and rolling clothes into my suitcase. It felt so good to be GOING SOMEWHERE!
Dresses: White Tiered Dress | Black T-shirt Knit Dress | Flutter Sleeve Tiered Dress | Polkadot Halter Dress
Tops: Linen-blend Sleeveless Tunic | Striped Tie-strap Silky Tank | Boho Eyelet Top | White Amazon tee | Black Amazon tee | Puff Sleeve Blue and White Top
Bottoms: High-Waist Jeans | Black Joggers
Shoes: Marc Fisher Espadrilles | Flat Sandal | Adidas sneakers
Accessories & Outerwear: Denim Jacket | Palmgrens Rattan Clutch | Pacsafe Black Crossbody | Sunglasses
Things to consider…
In the summer, Paris can have unpredictable weather. I try really hard not to overpack but in the end I like to have options. I find that if I stick to a neutral color palette, I can make more outfits out of less pieces. I prefer dresses for comfy casual days as well as date night evenings, and denim with neutral tops for cooler days. I love espadrilles in the summer and I saw many Parisian ladies wearing them with all kinds of outfits. For accessories, I brought a single rattan and leather crossbody clutch. I’m also glad I packed my rain jacket because one day it rained.
The travel day outfit…
My travel day outfit is a pair of comfortable joggers, a lightweight basic t-shirt, denim jacket, and sneakers. With this outfit I feel put together and yet comfortable for a long flight.
How to create a Paris summer travel wardrobe…
Start with your shoes. Make sure you’re bringing a pair you can comfortably walk all over the city in. I love my Adidas sneakers because they look good with anything. Bring a stylish heeled pair for lighter walking days and dressing up at night. I prefer espadrilles for this and they are THE summer shoe in Paris right now. Then bring a flat sandal for days at the park. That’s it. I only brought 3 pairs of shoes and it was enough.
Stick with pieces from your wardrobe you enjoy wearing at home. I am usually a neutrals person when it comes to my clothes, so I stick with simple dresses and a great pair of jeans that I can mix with a few different tops.
When it comes to my bag, I bring one “travel bag” which has been my Pacsafe crossbody for years. This bag is wonderful for train travel or anywhere else you may be in a crowded area known for pickpocketing. Your things are very secure in a Pacsafe bag. My current bag has evolved over the years so I can’t link the exact model, but this one looks great and is similar in size to mine. I bring one other purse for nice lunches or dinners. I love my Palmgrens rattan clutch because it holds a lot for a clutch and includes a crossbody option.
I hope this post helps you to plan your own travel wardrobe, whether it’s to Paris or elsewhere in the world! Happy packing!
