Nautical Stripes For a Mediterranean Holiday

Crochet, Fashion / Tuesday, April 4th, 2023

I finished this crochet henley just in time for our next trip! We head to Villefranche-sur-Mer this week, and although I’d rather it be just a little warmer, it’s going to be absolutely great. When is the French Riviera ever a bad idea? These nautical stripes are perfect for our little Mediterranean holiday!

Watch my styled reel of this henley here!

This is the Marinière Striped Henley designed by, you guessed it, Two of Wands! She is my go to for the best modern crochet patterns, and this pullover is a dream. The Admiral and Bone stripes made of Color Theory yarn just scream, take me to the shore! I love the slouchy fit and super cushy feel of it. It’s a curl up on your Mediterranean terrace with a glass of wine at the end of the day kind of piece.

Grab the kit from Lion Brand here!

I crocheted this henley based on the small size and it still had the right amount of slouch to it. Two of Wands has the best sizing in her patterns.

Finding buttons was an interesting adventure. In the states I would head to JoAnn’s or Hobby Lobby but those stores don’t exist in Amsterdam. I found a few fabric stores here but interestingly they don’t sell much other than fabric. A really nice woman working in the last fabric shop I went to sent me to Jan de Grote, a haberdashery on Albert Cuypstraat. I have never been to a real haberdashery before but this won’t be my last visit. They have everything! I found the button wall and selected the perfect blue buttons. You can also make this henley without buttons but I think they finish it off nicely.

In other crochet news…my Riviera Collection is complete! I have a few little tweaks I need to do on the pattern instructions, but everything will be ready to launch next month! All the patterns will be available for free to download here on my blog. I’m planning to do a big post with all the collection information and then additional posts for each individual piece. I can’t wait to hear what you think!

Gotta go pack! You can keep up with me on stories for all the Villefranche fun!

As always, thank you for reading! You can follow me on Instagram for daily updates on stories!
