Even though I love the experience of trying new foods while on vacation (hello chicken gizzards in Paris!) I look forward to coming home and having home cooked meals. As usual, Paul never disappoints! I think he was ready to get back in his own kitchen, too. Paul’s menu of the week vol. 4 has a couple of Asian dishes and is pretty light and healthy overall, with the exception of the pork belly perhaps. But come on, it’s PORK BELLY! Just saying it incites drool.
The goal of this week was to try to use up all of the protein we had in the freezer. That meant shopping mostly for vegetable sides. I was happy to pick up some baby bok choy, as we hadn’t had that in forever. The french green beans I buy always come from Trader Joe’s. I think they have the best price for the quality. They’re always so much more flavorful than regular green beans. We substituted langostinos, which also came from Trader Joe’s, for shrimp in the creole recipe.
Recipes available free online are linked, otherwise recipes are noted by their paid subscription source (ATK = America’s Test Kitchen; NYT = New York Times).
