Even though we lose an hour of sleep for one night, I really like having longer days where the sun doesn’t disappear quite so soon. I have really been indulging in the gorgeous spring weather we’ve had lately here in San Antonio. Chilly mornings give way to beautiful blue skied afternoons and comfortable temps (Texas peeps – we all know how hot it will get soon).
I’m springing forward today with a little weekend outfit that I wanted to share with you, because it has a couple of things that I really love – a favorite new piece from Target’s Universal Thread collection (you can see all my top picks from Universal Thread here) and a fun dupe for the “it” bag of this season and last.
This top made my favorites list because it is so soft and has a little pink pinstripe that’s perfect for spring. I saw it online first and was thrilled to see it in my size at my local Target. I love a great button front shirt because it’s so versatile. Jeans, shorts, to work, over dresses…the button front shirt is a take on menswear that I love to style. This one is a little sheer, but I wore a neutral toned bralette and felt covered. A cami would easily go underneath, too. The shirttail is a little long so I tied it in front just to make it interesting. You could also just wear it untucked or do a front tuck into a great pair of denim cutoffs.
Ok, can we talk about this bag for a minute?! My habit is to invest more in bags and shoes without question, but I just couldn’t bring myself to spend so much on a bag that my husband lovingly referred to as a “popsicle stick bag.” We had a laugh about that, and I completely agreed. With really trendy pieces, I like to spend my money elsewhere. So imagine my glee when I found this Cult Gaia dupe on Amazon for under $45! I may have actually squealed. Being the perpetual skeptic that I am, I poured over the reviews and found them to be really positive. It’s even made of real bamboo. It arrived in no time and came with a little gift of a silk tie that could be added to the bag or worn as a neckerchief. I’ll have to play with that a bit more later…
I paired everything with a comfy pair of boyfriend jeans and my favorite espadrilles from last season. I’ve since ordered a new pair of Marc Fisher espadrille wedges that I can’t wait to wear! Yes, I have a shoe problem and I’m totally ok with it.
You know who else is excited about springing forward? Bella! She loves it when we hang out in the yard with her. When I was shooting this look she came over and laid down next to me. She loves being a part of everything I am doing, and I love including her. As a reward for letting me snap some photos of her, I spent the rest of the afternoon throwing her favorite tennis ball. Isn’t spring time just the best?
