Styling a Crochet Wrap Top

Crochet, Fashion / Friday, September 9th, 2022

I have had this project finished since before we moved to Amsterdam, and I’m just now getting around to shooting and sharing it with you. This was one of my “countdown creations” I worked on while literally counting down the days before joining Paul here. You can see some of my other crochet countdown creations here, here, and here. Let’s dive into this wrap top…

Anything that is in a wrap style has typically been a no for me. I always feel like the wrap hits me at a weird spot, making me look like a stuffed sausage LOL. I can never figure out if I’m long or short waisted. Just depends on the clothes I guess. But this pattern doesn’t give me those feelings at all, and I’m not surprised because it’s designed by one of my favorite knit and crochet designers, Two of Wands. Her patterns just fit like a glove. The measurements are spot on and I never need to make adjustments for fit.

This is the Lotus Wrap Top and can be purchased as a kit from Lion Brand here (that’s what I did), or you can purchase the pattern directly from her website here. By the way, I was so pleased to learn that Lion Brand will ship internationally and the shipping cost to The Netherlands is a very reasonable $15. This pattern uses Color Theory yarn, a Two of Wands yarn collab with Lion Brand, in the color Canyon. But there are many other beautiful colors of Color Theory to choose from. It’s soft and breathable and easy to work with. I love it.

What I like about this top is that it makes a good transitional piece into fall with its short sleeves. So you feel like you’re wearing a sweater but without the bulk. Perfect for lightly cool days. I paired it with wide leg denim and booties, but you could wear it with a long floral skirt or high waisted khaki trousers for something more tailored. It’s the perfect top for running errands around Amsterdam. I love the little lotus flower details on the sleeves and hem, too. Hence the name, Lotus Wrap.
