The March Edit: Spring Neutrals

Fashion, The Edit Series / Thursday, March 29th, 2018

It’s a little hard for me to believe that March is basically over. Is it just me, or did it go by even faster than February, a month that is shorter by a whole 3 days? That being said, I’m pretty excited to be going into Easter weekend! We are spending a couple of days with family and I can’t wait to see my niece and nephew. We bought a couple of kites and are hoping the weather is nice enough to try and fly them. When was the last time you flew a kite? I honestly can’t remember, but I know it was a loooooong time ago.

I decided to start an Edit series and The March Edit: Spring Neutrals is the first “official” installment. I have been curating collections like this for as long as I can remember. As a child I would sit and cut out pictures from catalogs and magazines and make my own publications. Those earliest versions of mood boards transitioned to cutouts on my teenage bedroom walls and eventually wallpapering my cubicle as an adult working in fashion. It’s been a while since my post-college “Devil Wears Prada” days (that book/movie is quite an accurate portrayal of working in the industry, if you’ve ever wondered). Even still, I cannot relinquish my love of textiles and color palettes, and how they come together in our closets.

For the March edit, I compiled a dozen of my favorite neutral pieces I’ve been eyeing. I think it has something to do with the relaxed mood I’ve felt since spring decided to arrive. Everything is breezy, comfortable, and muted. This edit feels right at home on a porch with a glass of iced tea or walking a vineyard with wine in hand.

1 – I’m so happy that slip dresses have come back. This striped slip dress has a gorgeous hankerchief hem, giving it feminine detail against a classic menswear inspired stripe.

2 – This pair of espadrille wedges is the perfect shade of dusty pink.

3 – Everyone needs the perfect tee and this soft crew neck t-shirt is a spring wardrobe staple.

4 – Great scented candles are a must when spring cleaning. This pomegranate and acai candle smells incredible. I also love the chic gold container.

5 – I love these belted shorts. The belt is removable for a more casual look.

6 – Pair this flutter sleeve sweatshirt top with those belted shorts for an easy spring look that’s polished but not trying too hard.

7 – Faux fur isn’t just for winter! I have a couple of these kinds of rugs in our home but would love something like this Safavieh Momina faux fur ottoman.

8 – Even the smallest detail can make an outfit. These woven hoop earrings are from from of my favorite designers and they’re under $80.

9 – I don’t know what it is about these Wildfox Bel Air sunglasses, but I love them!

10 – We have a lot of travel coming up and I’m always looking for a flat shoe that also looks great. I love these plateau ankle strap flats for jeans and dresses.

11 – Now that the sun is out, a floppy sun hat is a must. This floppy straw look hat is a steal!

12 – Two words: bucket bags. They’re everywhere. This sling leather & suede bucket bag is definitely the splurge item on this list but it’s kind of the perfect.

What has been your favorite piece this month?
