New Orleans Date Night Outfit

Fashion, Lifestyle / Monday, June 5th, 2017

Ever since our weekend trip to New Orleans, I find myself thinking about it quite a bit. Mostly I’m just daydreaming of strolling along the cobblestone streets of the French Quarter or ducking into a swanky bar for a cocktail and the soothing sounds of a jazz ensemble. Of course, there’s also the food. Did you read my Eat+Stay+Play guide to New Orleans where I mentioned our dinner at Mr. B’s Bistro? That was such an incredible date night. We actually double-dated with my in-laws and had the best time.

The weather was a little unpredictable while we were there. It could get hot, humid and sunny during the day and then rain pretty hard at night. Overall we lucked out with some nice weather, but that can be tough to plan your wardrobe around.

I knew I wanted to be comfortable and cool, because I get hot pretty easily. Pants were out of the question so that left a dress. I have several of this shift style in multiple colors because they are so easy. I first wore this black one while on vacation in Italy over the summer and it definitely kept me cool but also stylish for dinner. So I ordered a couple more in other colors (I think I have 4 of this dress now) and packed this black one for a nice dinner out on Royal street. Wedges were also a good alternative to heels and I wear these with just about everything.

Also, how adorable is this courtyard? I love finding unique places to stay through VRBO. This little courtyard was private and in the heart of the French Quarter. It was the perfect spot to snap these before dinner pictures. It was so warm and muggy out that my hair went up immediately after taking these photos. I would love some suggestions of beautiful yet easy ways to wear long hair up. Help a girl out, ladies! 🙂
