4 Ways to Style Snakeskin Boots

Fashion / Friday, September 20th, 2019

Ever since ordering these snakeskin booties, I can’t stop wearing them. I have other booties in various shades of taupe and brown, but I love the snakeskin trend and this was a way to partake in it without going overboard. They’re pretty chic, no? (side note – I despise the term booties, but I’m trying to get with the lingo. They’ll always just be ankle boots to me) So, I’ve been having fun coming up with different ways to style them.

Did you catch my roundup of other snakeskin boots I love in my pre-fall wish list? They’re kind of everywhere right now – short heel, tall heel, stacked heel, perforated, notched, studded, side-zipped…the number of different styles available right now are almost endless.

So how do you style them? Here’s what I’ve been experimenting with so far.

4 Ways to Style Snakeskin Boots

Style #1 – White Cropped Jeans, Cardigan, Structured Bag

This look just goes to show that snakeskin boots add the perfect amount edgy cool to an otherwise pretty conservative look. I went monochromatic with a white tank top in order to elongate my body. I’m only 5’6” and with the shorter stacked heel of the boots, I wanted to give the illusion of longer legs.

This cardigan is a staple in my fall wardrobe (thanks StitchFix) and is lightweight enough for a transition piece. The bamboo handle bag is a thrifted find and was actually a birthday present from some friends years ago. I attached a printed bandana to dress it up a little. It has world cities and food printed on it – so me.

Style #2 – Cuffed Denim, Jean Jacket, Solid Pocket Tee

I almost always cuff my jeans when wearing booties, because again, short girl here! But I like the way it looks too – especially if the hem is raw. I posted this photo on Instagram stories right after I unboxed the booties and I think I received about fifty “hands clapping” emojis. So I guess this extremely simple look works.

I grabbed this denim jacket at the last minute when I realized the denim washes were so different. I never want to be caught in a denim nightmare circa 1990-something Britney and Justin – yikes! But this look totally worked. A basic tee and you’re out the door.

Style #3 – Vintage Band Tee, Destroyed Hem Jeans, Denim Jacket, Tooled Leather Bag

Vintage band tees were also part of my pre-fall wish list edit. They’re pretty to style with skirts or shorts, too. I love this Queen t-shirt when paired with the destroyed hem of these jeans. They are a little higher on the ankle so no need to cuff. Jacket or no jacket, it’s a style to have fun with. I threw on some round sunglasses and grabbed my tooled leather bag that I picked up in Bosnia this summer. Both completed the vintage look.

Style #4 – T-shirt Maxi Dress, Jacket Tied at the Waist

This is definitely the most comfortable way I’ve styled my snakeskin boots yet. I shared this t-shirt dress before in this post and it continues to be one of my favorite dresses in my wardrobe. Now that we are heading into Fall, I’m wearing the dark gray version a little more. Yes, there’s that denim jacket again! You could add a belt instead, but I just don’t like how that looks on me. A jacket casually tied around the waist is less fussy. I really like the look of this outfit with the hat. Ever since going to the Neiman Marcus Fall preview show, I’ve been wanting to add more hats to my wardrobe. I found this felt floppy hat for our Napa trip coming up!
