So, you bought a Peloton and you’re liking your experience. That’s awesome! I love mine. You can read my full Peloton review here if you’re still considering a Peloton for yourself (and keep reading for a $100 off Peloton accessories discount code). After nearly 75 rides, I thought I’d share some ways to get the most out of your Peloton experience. These are a few simple ways for amping up your ride that also make for a more enjoyable experience. This is not a sponsored post – I just really love my Peloton! All opinions are my own.

5 Ways to Get the Most Out of Your Peloton Experience

1 – Find the Instructor for YOU

One of the best ways to get the most out of your Peloton experience is to find an instructor that challenges and engages you in your rides. What I love about Peloton is that they seem to have an instructor for everyone, no matter your fitness level, motivation factor, or personality.

My favorite instructors and why:

I rotate among these 4 instructors from week to week: Emma Lovewell, Jess King, Alex Toussaint, and Matt Wilpers. Emma Lovewell might as well be my twin when it comes to music choice. I always rock out with her. Jess King has one of the best attitudes and I feel like I’ve been through an amazing therapy session when I’ve done a ride with her. I’m totally ready to conquer my day. Alex Toussaint’s personality is just so hard not to love. He’s funny and encouraging and his rides are tough, but not in a drill sergeant kind of way. Matt Wilpers is who I turn to for a serious ride. He is THE consummate athlete and his power zone rides will kick your butt.

2 – Increase Your Resistance

Another way to get the most out of your Peloton experience is to begin adding resistance beyond what is suggested from your instructor. For each part of the ride, whether it’s a flat road or a hill climb, your instructor will suggest a resistance range. When I first started riding I had a tough time staying within that range. The more rides I’ve accomplished the more resistance I can add on, even beyond what the instructor may suggest. More resistance means more output. More output means more power. More power means your body is working more and burning more calories, getting stronger, etc.

3 – Incorporate a Floor Exercise

Adding a floor exercise after your ride is a great way to get the most out of your Peloton experience. There are strength, stretching, yoga, and cardio exercises available to you for as little as 5 minutes each. Even a quick 5 minute core workout is beneficial. I like rides that include arm weights so that I can get more of a full body workout on the bike. But afterwards, I love the strength classes to tone other areas. Floor exercises are led by your favorite Peloton instructors, too.

4 – Download The Peloton App

Get the most out of your Peloton experience from anywhere with the Peloton app. Not only do I like that I can see my progress and goals any time from my phone, but my husband and I like to use it for a little friendly competition (he rides, too). If we complete the same ride or floor exercise, we earn a Dynamic Duo badge. Other badges you can earn include things like milestone rides (my next one is 75 rides).

The Peloton App is great for travel, too. I was recently at a hotel that didn’t even have bikes, just treadmills. So I pulled up my app and tried a Peloton running workout. To be honest it’s not my favorite, but that’s only because I just don’t like treadmills as much as I do cycling. But the workout and instructor were still really great.

5 – Pick Your Playlist

There’s a pretty wide range of music to help you get the most out of your Peloton experience. I love Emma Lovewell for her taste in 80’s music. If you love Phil Collins, and I mean who doesn’t, then you’ll love riding with Emma. But other instructors do 80’s rides, too. There are hip hop rides, 90’s pop rides, 60’s rides, and even country music rides. You can choose the kind of ride you want to do by the kind of music you’re feeling that day. Music is a huge motivator for me when I’m working out, so I love that Peloton has made this a focus.

  1. I’ve been using my daughters peloton almost every day. I feel amazing 🤗. Dec 1, 2018 I started the Keto diet and have lost 51 pounds.👊🏻 Now I just consider it low carb. I’m surprised that riding the Peloton doesn’t make me super hungry? I have gained a lil weight back but I know it’s from gaining muscle. 💪🏻I tried on my size 8 jeans this morning and they look super great! I thought they wouldn’t fit. 👏🏻 Should I be adding anything extra to my diet or just keep on low carb? Thanks for listening ☺️Becky

    1. That’s great, Becky! The Peloton combined with a healthy diet is a great way to feel and be healthy! I wish you all the best with your continued success! 🙂 xo – Erin
