May, where did you go? You just got here and then you were gone. What a month! It seems like it went by too fast to really do much, but every time I look back on the previous month I realize what a great month it was. And we packed in a lot of fun activities.
We started the month with the Kentucky Derby, which is always a fun weekend around here. I shared What to Wear and also an incredible Derby cocktail. I think I was ready to get the summer party started because I also shared a festive Cinco de Mayo cocktail that I think I’ll be making again soon.
I decided to get a little crafty and create a scripted sunhat for the pool. I can’t wait to take it with me to Greece! And it was super easy and completely reversible.
I shared how I preserve my travel photos into coffee table books. I have a few more trips planned for the year and I’m already behind on two previous trips. Time to get creating!
We had a fun dinner at Battalion, a new Italian restaurant in San Antonio. The made-from-scratch pasta was so delicious and the historic firehouse setting is beautiful. Trying new restaurants is one of my favorite things to do. With our busy schedules, a date night out can be tough to get on the calendar but we try to make it a priority.
I am still excited about my new Nikon D5500. I am still learning (and think I always will be) but that is most of the fun. I love experimenting with different shot angles, compositions, and lighting. I also just purchased this tripod from Amazon that is incredibly lightweight. It’s made a big difference in taking stills. For a basic tripod I think it’s going to work great, and it came with a carrying bag so I’ll be able to travel with it easily.
We spent a long weekend in New Orleans with my in-laws and had the best time! I love that the centuries-old culture and traditions of that city are still celebrated today. I can’t wait to go back. With this trip I launched my new Eat+Stay+Play Travel Guide Series for the blog. Stay tuned for future city guides.
Memorial Day Weekend ended the month on a high note. We had a fun time with friends hanging out at a local food truck park and squeezed in some time at La Cantera Resort & Spa. I can’t imagine a better way to end the month than with relaxing and enjoying time with family and friends. I shared a fun Memorial Day outfit that can go well into summer – perfect for parties, picnics, and BBQs. We also attended the San Antonio Parade of Homes where I picked up some beautiful home design ideas.
I hope the month of May was a good one for you, too. Did you do anything special or take any trips? Sometimes just a staycation at home is the best thing in the world. I am really looking forward to June, even though it’s going to be another jam-packed month. You would think I would be used to it by now. Coming up this month I have a two work conferences and a trip to California with my mom. I am ready for that Cali weather. Have a great June, everyone! And as always, thank you so much for stopping by and reading.
