Whether you’re heading to the Kentucky Derby or just attending a Derby party, tradition requires a fun hat of gigantic proportions and a cute dress. Even the official website has head-to-toe tips for men and women to look their best on Derby day.
I’m pretty excited to wear some new heels and my giant sunhat. But really I’m all about this dress. I bought it from Old Navy last year and intended to wear it in Italy, but never did (does anyone else have rows of clothes hanging in their closet with price tags?) So I’m pulling it out of hibernation! A round of applause for *almost* shopping my closet for this one.
I love this dress so much. The fit is perfect – cool and comfortable. And it’s really affordable so you can stock up on several of the other prints available online. I’ve just ordered 3 more for our trip to Greece in a couple months. When I find something I love I usually buy it in all the colors it comes in. The colorful stripes in this one remind me of the beach, which would be a great place to wear it, too. A day wedding is also a good option for this one. If you follow me on Instagram you’ve seen my Insta-stories about Hi-Lo fashion, pairing investment pieces with more affordable options and this outfit is an example of that. I ended up wearing it past the photoshoot and into date night last Saturday. It was perfect for a wine bar and dinner with friends.
