A Walking Tour of Colorful Valparaiso

South America, Travel / Wednesday, March 15th, 2017

Hello and happy Wednesday! There is really nothing prettier than springtime in central Texas. The weather is getting warmer but not too warm and the wildflowers are starting to pop up everywhere, blanketing the landscape in beautiful bluebonnets. Even my wardrobe is starting to look a little more light. With all this color around us I wanted to share a gallery of our day trip to Valparaiso, Chile. In addition to the 9 amazing things you have to do in Santiago that I posted, a day trip to Valparaiso is also easy and I highly recommend it.

What we enjoyed most was leisurely strolling through the Historic Quarter. You can take a bus from Santiago and then hail a taxi to the quarter. Take in the brightly colored buildings as well as some of the most impressive examples of graphic street art. The area has a bit of a Bohemian vibe with various local artisan shops and street art. For example, as you meander the streets you’ll encounter a stairway that has been painted to look like the black and white keys of a piano. For lunch, we stopped at Cafe Turri and enjoyed delicious food with an incredible view. Try the pastel de jaiba (crab gratin). It was amazing! And don’t forget the Chilean wine. 🙂
