Daily Look 11.20 | Monochromatic in an Oversized Sweater and Pleated Midi Skirt

Daily Looks, Fashion / Wednesday, November 20th, 2019

I realized that I hadn’t done a daily look since September – my apologies! These should be the easiest of blog posts, but I think I get too bogged down in Instagramland. Not that I don’t enjoy Instagram as a fun space to share daily looks with you all, but I can’t really share everything in such a small comment box, ya know?

So earlier this week I got together with some fellow blogger friends for another “sip and shoot,” what we call grabbing coffee and creating content. It’s a chance for like minds in the same industry to brainstorm, connect, and support each other. I am always learning something from other bloggers and find inspiration in their unique style and creative direction.

Our shoot location was the Eilan, a premier hotel, shopping, and dining destination here in San Antonio. I love the architecture and weekday mornings are pretty quiet, making it the perfect spot. A bonus this time of year is getting to see it all decked out for the holidays. There’s a giant Christmas tree as well as ornamented garland surrounding every lamppost.

This daily look is inspired by all the European bloggers I love to follow. Women like Anouk Yve, master of chic minimalism, and Emma Hill, a Londoner with an eye for styling coats in the most flattering and simplistic way. I can’t forget Julia Mateian or Renata Jazdzyk, who make clothing an art form. These women have given me so much inspiration and courage to have more fun with my own wardrobe, something that I hope to also encourage you, my readers, to do.

I am finding myself drawn more and more to monochromatic looks. I’ve always been a huge fan of an all black ensemble, but lighter neutrals like dusty pinks and creams have been carving out a little home on the racks of my closet. I love the way wearing a single color, or at least variations within a tonal range, just draws the eye up and down. It really creates the illusion of fluidity (and anything to make me appear taller is always nice!).

I found this oversized sweater for a great deal and I’ve loved wearing it with just about anything. It looks great with jeans (as seen in this IG post) and now I’m loving it with a pleated skirt. They aren’t the exact same shade of blush, but they are similar enough to go together nicely for a monochromatic look. These slouchy heeled boots are another budget friendly find that are a great neutral shade that just worked. They’re actually one of the 7 Affordable Fall Trends I’m Loving!

The skirt was semi-thrifted. I say ‘semi’ because I bought it at a blogger closet sale, to support my friends Ari and Axelle. It was in mint condition and the perfect shade of light blush. It also fit perfectly and was a great deal. A portion of the sale went to charity as well. Win-win.

A last minute addition to my look was the belt bag. My friend Trish had it with her the day of the shoot and just says, “Ooh my belt bag would look great with your outfit.” And now of course I need one, too.
