Finding your blogging tribe is probably one of the toughest things to do. It’s not enough to just put your content out there and expect hoards of followers to read every word immediately. Part of what makes blogging so rewarding is being able to connect with other bloggers who share similar passions and what it means to be a creative person. Before I started blogging, I was (and still am) an avid blog reader. I have my favorite bloggers whom I routinely read and follow on Instagram. But I never really thought I would meet any of them in person.
That changed a few weeks back when I attended an event at Kendra Scott and had the chance to meet other bloggers in the San Antonio area. Walking in felt like the first day of school. I didn’t know anyone, no one knew who I was, and I immediately second guessed my outfit. I quickly realized how silly my anxiety was when one of my now blogging friends came right up and said, “Hi, I’m Ashley.” Soon I was chatting with the other bloggers and learning that we all have these incredible passions, from fashion and home decor, to personal style and travel, to relationship advice. Some of us blog as a “side hustle” while others blog as a full time career. I learned so much in a few short minutes and knew that I had found my tribe, as they say.
Fast-forward to a couple weeks ago where I attended the opening of the new Riley Rose at The Shops at La Cantera with more local blogger friends (photo above from Café con Ellas tv – L to R: Ashley from Reservoir De Rosé, Sonya from Color.Me.Polish, Jenny from Breakfast at Lilly’s, Brittney from Brittney Blane, Me, Rose from Lizo247 and Café con Ellas tv). We now have a Facebook group and Instagram (Blogging SATX!) and are planning more meet-ups. I love the focus on collaboration over competition.
I wanted to share some of the photos I took of the Riley Rose opening, too. I owe a HUGE thank you to Rose Ferreira and Ashley Nunez for bringing the group together and including me, and a very big thank you to Riley Rose and The Shops at La Cantera for hosting our sneak preview before the public. It was so much fun and I have so many great products to try because of it. Faces masks, Korean beauty, home decor, and cosmetics are just some of the finds at Riley Rose. Grab a girlfriend and stock up!
With Rose Ferreira – don’t you think all shops should have a ‘Gram-worthy wall?
Who’s ready to fill up one of those pink baskets? I’ll meet you there! 😉
