They say the best way to start something is to just begin. Throw out the excuses and just do it. There seem to be many reasons why I’ve put off starting this blog – time, uncertainty, confidence, time…did I say time? It really is about time. Yes, it’s about time I started doing something that I’ve been thinking about for so long.
Years ago when my husband and I started to travel I began a little journal. It was nothing much, just a small notebook containing a little summary of our adventures. You know, something to look back on when you’re 80. Back then we were pretty green and had never really ventured out of the U.S., unless you count a spring break trip to Cancun (gratefully, none of which was recorded). Our first trip abroad took us to London and that was it. We were completely hooked. We spent our entire flight home planning our next trip – where would we go? How soon could we make it happen?
Over the years we’ve learned quite a bit, including how to travel on a limited budget. We have also never used a travel agent or booked a trip through those large group tour companies. That’s just not for us. I don’t think travel should feel like a cattle call. We get asked all the time by friends and colleagues how we do it. Most of the time people are incredulous that we manage to plan amazing trips all on our own. The truth is that anyone can do it. We certainly aren’t the only nomads out there blogging our experiences, but through this blog I want to share travel from our perspective. We are just two regular people living an everyday life of work & play with our labrador retriever in tow.
I hope that you’ll find something interesting or inspiring here. We get this one amazing life and we should explore it. You will never regret ditching your comfort zone.
