I’ll admit that this retro gifts guide is a little heavy on my favorite decade and probably slightly influenced by my love of Stranger Things, but what can I say, the 80’s were rad, man! For those on your list who live for nostalgia like I do, I’m starting my gift guides series with a collection of retro gifts. But these aren’t dusty old items found in your neighbor’s garage sale. These gifts have all the decades nostalgia but with modern upgrades, like the arcade for your iPad or the retro-styled bluetooth speaker.
Although it pains me greatly that the 80’s and 90’s are now considered vintage (I’m not that old, am I?), I do love anything that harks back to a simpler app-free world of Saturday morning cartoons and the incredible patience one needed to create the best mixtape ever.
One of my favorite things on this gift guide is that MTV sweatshirt! I recommend sizing up at least a size to get that ultimate 80’s slouchy look (I’m usually a small-medium but would definitely get this in a large). Why do I love it? It reminds me of my formative years spent lounging on my best friend’s bed while we devoured episodes of The Real World and debated whether or not we should dress in grunge – spoiler alert, we did.
Another favorite decade of mine? The 60’s! For the “mad men” (or women) in your life, these rocks glasses are super chic and would pair perfectly with this classic yet adapted for the modern age turntable.
