7 Affordable Fall Style Trends I’m Loving

Fashion / Thursday, November 14th, 2019

Happy Friday Eve! I put together a little roundup of 7 affordable fall style trends I’m loving, with a focus on budget friendly options. There’s a mix of price points and as usual the accessories tend to be on the higher side, but I found some really great under $50 options (even when it comes to shoes). I’ve tried to link everything I can where available so you can recreate any of these looks. I don’t jump on all the trends, but these have become staples in my wardrobe this season. What do you guys think?

Sweater Dresses

Let’s start with one of my all time favorite pieces in my wardrobe – the sweater dress (and this one I AM LOVING!). A sweater dress should be in everyone’s closet this fall. It’s cozy, it’s easy, and it looks perfect, no matter what you’re doing. Heading to the office? Doing date night? Running errands? Check, check and check. I added this cowl neck sweater dress to my wardrobe recently and I’m amazed at the quality for the price. I was totally influenced by Anna Page from The Page Edit, and even messaged her about this sweater dress before buying. It comes in a few other colors but the creamy white was my favorite. Of course, I worried it might be see-through but it’s not. The cowl neck gives it that layer of cozy while the button details dress it up a little. I love it paired with a neutral tall boot.

Animal Prints

Animal print is a trend I’ve slowly gotten behind since last fall. I started with a simple accessory and have graduated to other pieces. This leopard print thermal is another budget-friendly find that I was impressed with. It’s very soft and the print isn’t too loud. I really can’t have enough layering pieces like this for fall and winter. And I love the ease of wearing it with a vest when a jacket might be too much bulk for our Texas winters. I wore this to the zoo last weekend and was comfy all day.

Slouchy Tall Boots

Just when you think you don’t need another pair of boots, the slouchy tall boot makes its appearance everywhere this fall. I have several pairs of knee high boots but the heels in all of them are more of a riding boot style – low or flat. It’s a great look and honestly the best for travel, but I was wanting something a little more polished that could dress up a pair of jeans or be worn with a sweater dress like I did above. The slouchy detail just reminds me of all those knee high boots from the 80’s our moms wore, and I love it! This pair is another great budget-friendly find. They’re also faux suede so you don’t have to worry if you get caught in a fall shower.

Oversized Sweaters

Oversized sweaters just scream cozy fall! I wore this knitted blush sweater on Instagram recently and received lots of compliments. The blush color is selling out quickly but fortunately it comes in seven other beautiful colors. Neutrals like this are my favorite because I can wear them with black, brown, or in this case burgundy accessories. This headband is a new “old” favorite. I loved wearing headbands when I was a girl and I’m so happy they’re back in new fabrics and textures.

Camel Coats

A style that trends every fall is the classic camel coat. It’s just so timeless and adds instant chic to anything. I invested in this one last season and I continue to get compliments every time I wear it. I always feel really put together and confident with a great coat. I love how the collar on this one pops up and the fit-and-flare design produces a slimming silhouette. I’ve linked several styles I love at a variety of price points. A real camel coat can be expensive, but the investment can be worth it depending on your climate and style.

Cozy Soft Knits

I saw a sign the other day that said “it’s cozy season” and as much as I kind of cringe at phrases like that, it does make sense. We had the fireplace on all weekend and the house just felt so comfortable and cozy. This time of year, I look for garments that make you feel wrapped up in a blanket. But it can’t be too heavy because you just never know what the weather is going to do around here. This knit cardigan is perfect for transitioning from fall to winter because not only is it incredibly soft and gives you all the cozy feels, it’s lightweight, and can be worn as a cardigan or sweater dress. Layer it over thick tights and a long sleeve top for extra warmth or just throw it on over jeans and a cami. So versatile (and a steal on price)!

Faux Fur

I’ve had this faux fur vest for years and it continues to be a fall staple. Faux fur is everything this season from the much loved teddy coat to fur lapels on wool jackets. Have you seen the Rachel Parcell holiday collection at Nordstrom? It’s nothing short of amazing. This faux fur collar wool blend coat is gorgeous, as is everything RP comes up with! I love faux fur in accessories, too, like knit beanies or scarves that have a little pom pom detail. (side note…seeing my hair tucked into my collar like this has me considering a long bob – yes or no?)
