Cozy Cuddle Crochet Throw Blanket

Crochet / Friday, February 2nd, 2024

The Cozy Cuddle Throw is my first crochet blanket and I love how it turned out. Not only is it the first crochet blanket I’ve ever made, it’s also the first one I’ve ever designed. It took a very long time to finish, several months to be exact, which is unusual for me. I’m a pretty fast crocheter for most projects. If you follow me on Instagram then you might think that I spend all day crocheting (man, would that be nice), but I really just work quickly. Not that I’m in a rush, it just comes naturally that way.

When I set out to make the Cozy Cuddle Throw, however, I knew it was going to force me to slow down. There are 42 total squares that make up this blanket! While each square may not take that long, it’s still a lot of squares to produce. Consider this a great project to work on while you binge your favorite show. Once you get the square pattern down (it’s easy to memorize) then you can sink into the mindless catharsis that is crocheting this blanket.

I’m very pleased that it is now available as a Hobbii Plus Pattern! You can use the same colors I did or pick any palette you like. I’d love to see it made in other colors. While I went with a deeply hued mix, you could certainly go lighter for spring with pastels. A palette of relaxing neutrals or earth tones would be beautiful. The sky’s the limit. The yarn is called Mega Ball Aran and is also available from Hobbii. It is the largest skein of yarn I’ve ever worked with. Truly some big balls (of yarn 😏). One skein in each of the four colors is all you’ll need to complete this blanket.

The Cozy Cuddle Throw is the perfect “lap blanket”as it’s not too big. It’s just the right size for curling up in your favorite chair with a book or dare I say, another crochet project! When I get this blanket out, Lola loves to get cozy with me.

I’m not sure I’ll be making another blanket for a while. I have a couple of other smaller projects I’m working on now with Hobbii. The first is a Valentine’s Day home decor crochet hand towel (perfect for adding a little whimsy to a powder room or kitchen). The second is a trio of twisted headbands in a new yarn from Hobbii called Mocktail. I hope to have them styled soon so stay tuned to stories and reels for an update.

Now that it’s February, what are your plans for the new month? I wish you well, friends!
