Hexagon Cardigan & Happy New Year!

Amsterdam, Crochet / Wednesday, January 17th, 2024

Well, here we are. Another year behind us, another one in front of us. Happy New Year, friends! I feel like it’s ok to keep saying that through the end of January. For a month that is basically the Monday of all the months, wishing someone a Happy New Year makes it feel at least a smidge festive, right? That’s what I’m telling myself. 😉

I simultaneously cannot believe it is 2024 and yet I can totally believe we are already halfway through the first month of it. Christmas already seems like forever ago. We hauled our tree out over the weekend and we have SO MUCH SPACE in the house now. I was ready for it to go, but I do miss the ambience the tree lights provided. I made a note to invest in more candles. Valentine’s Day decor has surfaced around here and I’m preparing for some new crochet content to go along with it.

Speaking of crochet, I shared this hexagon cardigan I finished over the holidays on stories. The number one comment from followers was regarding the colors. It seems everyone agreed that the combination of dark blue, brown, rust, and cream was perfect. I also love it. This was my first attempt at a hexagon cardigan and it definitely won’t be my last. If you don’t know, a hexagon cardigan gets its name from it being constructed of two hexagonal shapes seamed together. It’s kind of magic, in a way. Here is the pattern link, in case you want to make one for yourself. I modified it for a shorter body and sleeves, and I made it in size XS so that it would be more fitted. I used two skeins of Lion Brand x Two of Wands Color Theory in Raisin and Canyon and two skeins Scheepjes Colour Crafter in Hasselt (2010) and Tynaarlo (1011).

I’m going to continue with travel content as well, of course. Our first trip of the new year is to Scotland at the end of March and I cannot wait! I ordered a pair of wellies and a quilted jacket so I’ll be prepared for any kind of weather. I’m secretly hoping for a misty day or two. Stay tuned!

In house news, our carpet was installed for the staircase and we’ve nearly finished the office. Next up is a small update in the garden. Then I think we may be done for a while.

Lola continues to be the absolute best girl ever. She has been enjoying the extra old morning walks, even in the snow. But we always make time for cuddles. I finished my Cozy Cuddle Throw Blanket pattern, which is the perfect thing to get cozy under. It will be available for purchase on Hobbii very soon!
